thoughts

So I am not usually the person who jumps up and voices an opinion when it comes to abortion/pro-life/pro-choice and that sort of thing. That does not mean I don't have an opinion, I tend to be a little more reserved in sharing, and will speak up when I feel the time is right.

The time is right...NOW!

While in Vancouver this past year, I participated with a group call G.A.P - Genocide Awareness Project. My friends and I would stand on street corners(near abortion clinics)and hold large signs with very graphic pictures of aborted fetus'. We would also hand out pamphlets to anyone who would take one, as well as speak to anyone who wanted to talk(or scream!). The lunch hour on Fridays sometimes turned into the most interesting hour of the week, to be honest. But that's not what I want to get in to. It was/is a good thing. One I am very proud to have been a part of.
This morning, while getting ready to come to work, I put the tv on(I now have 23 channels of cable! I'm moving up in the world). On the station was a talk show - of some guy I've never heard of before - the host was talking to a young girl and her father. You see, the girl, who is white, was pregnant from a guy, who is black and she was there to tell the world that she was going to keep the baby. Her father wasn't happy because the baby was bi-racial, however, he was choosing to support her by allowing her to move into his home so that she had a place to go. Like every good talk show, they brought in a guest Doctor to talk to the other guests. Usually this is where I tune out, but not today.
The Doctor and the host were both talking to the girl about her choice to keep the baby and how difficult it will be for her to raise the child on her own! DUH! They were attempting to pour into her brain that there was no way that her child could ever be happy and that she would never again be happy. WHAT?? I must admit, this young teenage girl was holding her ground well. She was informing them of how she had no intentions of aborting her child and that she didn't believe adoption was the right option either. She made the choice to have sex and become pregnant, she is making the choice to raise this baby and take everything else that has to come with that.
The host and Doctor were relentless, the young girl trying to remain calm. "young girls are having babies all over the place" she said. "I realize that doesn't make it right or any easier for me, but I can do this." The next line got to me the most. The host said "They are having a bad life and so are the babies." Again I say WHAT?? Without saying the word, these 2 people were strongly telling this young girl that she should have an abortion because she would have a bad life and so would her child. Crap. Evil sucks. Society sucks.

How can they live without Jesus?
How can they live without God's love
How can they feel so at home down here, when there's so much more up above?
Throwing away the things that matter, they hold on to things that don't
The world has gone crazy but soon maybe a lot more we're gonna know

But maybe they don't understand it
Maybe they just haven't heard
Maybe we're not doing all we can livin up to his Holy Word
Coz phonies have come, and wrongs been done, even killing in Jesus' name
And if you've been burned, here's what I've learned, the Lord's not the one to blame

Blessings.

you never do know how God can use a lunch break moment that puts us outside our comfort zone. Maybe God is begiining to show you his plans for someone you will need to minister to directly in the future. Keep it up.
