So I'm sitting here at Carnegie thinking "I should update my blog." I hit the web address, sign in and....
I feel as though I have nothing to share!!!! How weird is that? Maybe I'll just tell you all about my week. Sound good? Its been a busy one.
This was the last week of term #1. We had a few assignments due(why is it that assignments are always due at the end and all at the same time?!), and I was pretty good with getting things done on time and feeling pretty good about it.
Myself and a few friends started leading a new kids program on Thursday night and that was a lot of fun. Very different than what we expected though. We thought we'd get there and have the rough kids from that part of town when what we got was kids from an afterschool tutoring program at a church down the street. Praise God for the unexpected! We played some games, helped them with their homework, and ate some sandwiches. Great stuff! I'm looking forward to this week!
Friday night I spent having some me time. I hung out with one of the girls in leadership, helping her put together some shelves for her room. Then we went to 7-Eleven(I love slurpees!!) and on the way there we came across a store that looked interesting. After walking in we realized there was a lot of dark stuff happening in this store - very new age - so we prayed it up around the store and left. We'll be adding this place to our daily prayer walks for sure.
Yesterday I had a bonus blessing in the afternoon! I handed an assignment in late, so I, along with a handful of others had to clean the command centre(our church offices and class rooms). There were enough of us there that it didn't take us that long - sweet!
Last night I was on ReCre8(our coffee drop-in) and had a good time. Its very different being in there on a Saturday rather than Monday. Good, but different.
Christmas Kettles start tomorrow!! Fun, busy stuff. But I'm looking forward to it. This is an important time of the year for The Salvation Army. Its probably the biggest fundraising event that we do. So, if you aren't Army and you see a Christmas Kettle around in your area, please give. The money is going to help fund programs that won't be able to run otherwise(including many of those that I am involved with in the DTES).
21 days until I go home!
Blessings.
