Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope that your day is a blessed one spent with friends, family or whomever else may be around you. Take some time out of your day to thank God for the things he has done in your life...I know he's done a ton!

Today I went to Southmount Citadel. How can I describe Southmount.....hmmm....can we say OLD! Yeah, I was trying really hard not to be judgemental(since this isn't the corps where my brigade is going and I was only there so that those who do go there would have a driver!!), but man, it was so old! Not just the people, but the music...everything. We sang some songs that I haven't sung since childhood!!

Come into his presence with Thanksgiving in your heart and give him praise, and give him praise! *sheesh* But the people there seem happy and they are some of the friendliest people around...maybe I should have mentioned that at the beginning intead of jumping on the negative bandwagon. Sorry.
Anyway, after church we went to the Associate Pastor's house for dinner. It was wonderful to spend time in a nice home, with great people and fabulous food. It was hard for us all to tear ourselves away, let me tell you!
When we got back into the DTES we were heading to park the van when we noticed the line-up for thanksgiving dinner at the harborlight...HOLY! It was one of the longest lines I've ever seen! Wrapped all the way around the building, down the alley on the side and over to the next street! I have no idea how long it took to feed all those people, but I am glad that they all had a place to go, and good food to eat.

On that note, its time to head out. We don't have classes tomorrow(YEAH) so my roommates and I are having a girls party in the afternoon(typical girly stuff) then we are heading out to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory - we've actually invited the guys to join us for this part! Its going to be a fun, relaxing day.

Blessings.

oh hon. . . "Old" is the word to describe much of the Army world. . and it makes me mad and sad.

anyway, i'm glad that the ppl were friendly!

I'm much more heartened to hear of the great feeding of the many at the Harbor Light!!! that's more like it!!

2000 years ago the Apostle John heard the winged creatures sing "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come." Rev.4:8.
I'm curious would they still be singing that song or would it be replaced by more contemporary lyrics? Lets remember its not the age or date of the song but the condition of the heart that sings its praises.

God Bless You,

Lisa

Ouch! That hurts! I'm not against old hymns and other older things in church, far from it. Some of my favorite lyrics come from hymns.

wow, ouch indeed, Dee -- my own beef with the Army is NOT the old songs, I love lots of them -- its the old attitudes and its the apathy - the old wineskins not being able to contain God's new wine.
