The art of prayer. Is prayer an art? Should prayer be an art? I've been thinking about this a lot lately - as I attempt to get myself straight with my devotional life and my time spent in prayer. It's proving to be a lot easier than I thought it would...hmm...why is that? Becuase I'm pushing myself to do the best and really take the time? Anyone who knows me well will know the answer to that one. A resounding....NO! I believe that satan is allowing it to be easier because if I'm fooled into believing that everything is hunky-dory, he can make his way in a lot quicker.
AHA! I figured it out! I'm so proud of me(that line taken from a book about going to the potty that I read to Jack! lol). So now I'm going to beat the dirtbag to the ground! MWahahahaha!
So - I've got to really push myself to spend more concrete time on my devotions and prayer. I will succeed!
While looking through my Bible and thinking about this last night, I came across a quote that I had written in there. Again, this is from No Compromise - the Keith Green Story. This is what Keith says about prayer:
"Prayers should be answered. If yous haven't been, check your heart. Is is soft with love for God? Do you want to see glory and honor brought to his name from the answer to your prayer? Are you willing to obey his will and do what he tells you to do?
If you're not receiving answers to your prayers, its probably not that God is saying "wait." More likely, its that God is trying to get your attention, trying to point out an area in yout life where your heart attitude is wrong."
My heart attitude has been wrong for months. Satan, the pecker that he is, worked his way in. Well...he's gone! Amen!
A quote about the heart...
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt by the heart."
Shut the devil down, Lord. Shut the devil down.
Blessings.

i think that prayer is the Christian's oxygen. if we're not praying - well, we lack oxygen and therefore we lack life - WE'RE DEAD! the body - it can't be without oxygen-- period! So it is with our spirit. Our spirit cannot survive in an 'oxygen-deprived' situation. If i think of prayer like this - i understand it.
I like your blog, Dee! thanx for putting your thoughts out there - for challenging yourself along with your readers.
