at the DMV

Went to the Department of Motor Vehicles today. I was expecting the wait to be super long but was lucky enough to be in and out in 40 minutes.

I have a tendancy to listen when other people are around. Some people would say that makes me nosy. I say that I'm intuitive.

Heard a funny story from a older guy(probably 60ish)of an engagement he was asked to speak at. This guy has 40years sober and was asked to speak at some conference they were putting off. At first I was just thanking God that this guy was sober for that long - he was so proud, you could see it in his face. He and his friend walked into the room at this hotel, looking around to for familiar faces. When they didn't see any, they sat near the back waiting for the first speaker to start. After a few minutes they realized that the whole room was men. Interesting and odd. A few minutes later a young guy who sat in front of them turns around and says "nice to see some of your generation here. You didn't turn out too badly." and winks at him. Looking around quickly one more time, they figured out where they were - at a Gay mens conference! He tells the story with a chuckle. That's one day he'll never forget!

The things you can hear when you actually listen!

Blessings.
