Do you and your family have Christmas traditions that help to make Christmas what it is(other than the birth of our Saviour, that is!)?
Ultimately the birth of Jesus is the main reason to why we have Christmas at all, but are there special things that you do to celebrate with your family? Certain foods? Music? Wacky traditions?
In my family, there are always a few things that bring me back to my childhood and really get me thinking about Christmas.
I thought I would share a few. Please, share yours as well!
-Boney M Christmas album. It would not be Christmas without it!
-A Christmas Story. Who wouldn't like Ralphy and want a Red Rider BB Gun? This is my favorite Christmas movie, and tonight its on T.V. over and over and over again. YES!
-Homemade decorations around the house. I believe there are still some kicking around from when I was a kid!
-Newfie Dressing(stuffing). Made just the way my mom used make...Mmm...my favorite part of Christmas dinner.
-Preparing the dressing. My mom used to have us tear up the bread on Christmas Eve. This is still something I do. Hmmm...don't know why its such a vivid memory for me. There is just something about it.
-Animated Christmas shows. Frosty, Rudolph, Santa Claus is coming to town....do you remember these shows? They are still on today!
-Lemon Meranque Pie. A turkey dinner in my house wouldn't be the same without it.
These are just a few. Now that I'm older, some of them still exist and we are making new ones with the kiddies. So much fun!
Merry Christmas to you all! May the Lord bless you richly as you think about His SON this season.
Blessings.

Ok, so you like Ralphy because he now reminds you of Tanner, the dressing is just like Mom's...but I make it, oh and the Pie too...
You can take credit for the bread!!!
The best so far this year was "WHAT"! Well gotta go and make a cake in an oven with a light bulb.
Haha

love your traditions! We used to make chocolates together. . . but they were too sickly sweet. . maybe the filling recipe was just too sweet? The baking is a big tradition. . and we have certain fam recipes we always use.
Christmas Eve always with the Allan side. . . Christmas Day with me, my fam and one my sisters and her fam. . the traditional meal with English stuffing (sage instead of savoury).
When I was a kid we always made a kraft pizza in a box and watched the Alistair Sims' version of A Christmas Carol. . in later years went to the Christmas Eve service at the corps
