trust

Last night in cell we talked about trust. The text: Matthew 6:5-15,23-24, 7:7-11
The questions were asked "What does it take for someone to earn your trust? Has God earned your trust?"

In general, I tend to trust people unless they have done something(that I've physically seen) that could deem them untrustworthy. What got me thinking the most was 6:7-8 "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don't be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!"

Often times when I'm praying, I don't speak out prayers. Why should I? God already knows them, right? If God knows our prayers before we speak them, why do we have to speak them? Why pray?
Its about trust and relationship. God wants us to be in relationship with him. He also wants us to trust him.
When you have a friend who is in need of some help and you know it, sometimes, for the sake of that friend, it is better to wait for them to come to you with their need. This is the same with God. He wants us to trust him enough to go to him(even though he already knows). Its an enormous sign of trust.
I heard a quote last night that comes from a video game...

"What is sought is more often found if it is truly sought"

"Keep on asking and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."
Matthew 7:7-8

What's keeping you from trusting the Lord?

A challenge:
Pick someone to pray for - a friend, family member, or enemy even(Oooo!). Pray for them over the next week. Pray for God to pour out good gifts on them, that he would shower them with his Father love.

Blessings.
