Tonight while babysitting for some friends of mine, I decided to watch the movie Crash. I actually had 2 movies to choose from, and decided because of the lineup of actors in this one, it would be the best bet.
As I watched, I started to become angry. Angry at the human race for the way that we treat each other. You see, this movie is plastered with negative racial points and people going against each other - no matter what their race. There are problems with every person of every race. These problems put a husband against his wife, a man against his hmo person(cause she was black), a mother against her son, policemen against each other...and the list continues.
In the end, they all seem to draw the same conclusion(in my assumption)...something is missing in their lives. People have died or been seriously hurt around them and all along they have only focused on themselves.
This all got me thinking(as I teared up)that we, as Christians, also spend too much time thinking about ourselves...right? I do, that's for certain.
Have you(or I)taken a sufficient amount of time this weekend to think upon the sacrifice that has given us this holiday? Or are we too excited to have a big dinner and watch the kids(or ourselves)hunt for chocolate eggs?
This world is on a downward spiral. It cannot live without Jesus. Its time for us to stop being idle(even those of us who are in 'full time' ministry)and live the sacrifice. Achieve holiness and be Christ like in every way. It IS possible.
I am reminded of a song by Keith Green. Take some time to read it, and think upon His sacrifice. This world cannot live without Jesus any longer.
How can they live without jesus
How can live without god’s love
How can they feel so at home down here
When there’s so much more up above
Throwin’ away things that matter
They hold on to things that don’t
The world has gone crazy
But soon maybe
A lot more are gonna know
For maybe they don’t understand it
Or maybe they just haven’t heard
Or maybe we’re not doin’ all we can
Living up to his holy word
’cause phonies have come
And wrongs been done
Even killing in jesus’ name
And if you’ve been burned
Here’s what I’ve learned
The lord’s not the one to blame
For he’s not just a religion
With steeples and bells
Or a salesman who will sell you
The things you just want to hear
For his love was such
That he suffered so much
To cause some of us
Just to follow, follow
So many laughing at jesus
While the funniest thing that he’s done
Is love this whole stubborn rebellious world
While their hate for him just goes on
And love just like that
Will bring him back
For the few he can call his friends
The ones he’s found true
Who’ve made it through
Enduring until the end
The ones he’s found true
Who’ve made it through
Enduring until the end
