Ring a ling...
Hear them ring...
Soon it will be Christmas day!
That's right friends, Christmas is fast approaching! Are you all excited? I am so excited to be going home and having some time to relax and spend with my family and friends. My mom still does not know that I am coming, so that's kind of neat. Hopefully I don't give her a heart attack when I walk in the door!
As for things in the downtown eastside, things are dying down for the moment. Today will be my last kettle shift of the year(thank goodness) and I will be spending much of that 3 hours playing the cornet - it helps to bring in the bucks! Its great to raise funds this way, and I know that it is a major Salvation Army tradition at Christmas, but I will be glad to not do it anymore. I'm pooped.
People are slowly trickling out and heading off to their various homes for the break. Its sad to leave everyone(even if only for 2 weeks), but we are all glad for the break, I know.
Last night was a lot of fun. Went to a vancouver Giants hockey game(on the Army) to help raise some more kettle funds. We had a group go and do some carolling - it was fun and we sounded pretty good most of the time. Near the end we were all tired, our voices were hurting, but I believe we made some good money for the Harbor Light and that many more people got a little spirit because we were so excited and having some fun.
The Giants won 4-3 in overtime(45 seconds of overtime). Thought you all might like to know that!!!
I will update more over the break and do my best to figure out the whole picture thing(I may be getting some help from my friend, Jim!!! He's smrt!).
Blessings
