Don't you love Jesus things? Wondering what in the world I mean by that? Here's a good example of a Jesus thing that happened recently...
We have to write a 'Life Journal' for one of our classes. That consists of journaling thoughts, scripture and revelations from our rations (devotions) and anything else that may be happening in our spiritual/emotional lives. I also journal exercises from a text book called 'Can You Hear Me?' by http://http://www.bradjersak.com/canyouhearfeature.html That would be Brad Jersak!! And some day I'll learn how to do that properly!!!! lol! Anyway, as I was saying, I also journal in these "tuning in" exercises from the book. If you're interested in listening prayer, check out this book...its amazing!
On November 3rd I journaled one of the exercises about what Jesus told me when I asked him how he was seeing me on that particular day. This is what I wrote:
*picture a large yellow daisy drawn through the middle of the page*
~ This is how I believe Jesus is seeing me today. As a flower in bloom. One that is blossoming for him while still trying to find its fit within a ministry its been called to. ~
Now skip forward about 2-3 days. Andy & I were walking in the Shaldon(our hotel) and as I was going into my room he says to me "Denise, you are a blossoming flower." Then he stops, turns towards his room and walks away laughing!!! I, feeling a little down trodden that he was laughing at that(and not remembering what I had written just days earlier), I followed him to find out why he was laughing. His answer was typical of any 18year old male "I just couldn't see myself saying something like that - then I did!!"
It was pretty funny and we have actually been making a joke out of it for the past week. Until I discovered the Jesus thing!
In my regular 5-8am War Room(24-7 prayer room) shift on Thursday, I was praying about the things Jesus had been saying to me when I felt the Holy Spirit tell me to re-read my journal. What? Yes, I often question what is told to me(you think I would have learned not to by now). I went back and noticed the flower, read how Jesus saw me and then instantly thought of Andy. I believe that the Holy Spirit had been trying to remind me of His word that day with Andy and I played it off as a joke, not remembering what had been said to me. I didn't see it - I just didn't see it.
You see, it was a Jesus thing. I love Jesus things.
Abba father, I thank you for your nourashment while I continue to grow in you. Thank you for planting your seed within me. Please keep watering me while I am withered and weathering the storms that may come my way. I praise you for the live you have given me. Thank you for rooting me up. Thank you for grace. I love you. Amen.
Are you tuning into the God who speaks? If you're not, I challenge you to give it a try. And if it scares you a little, drop me an e-mail and I'll help you out. Its worth it, I promise.
Blessings.

I enjoyed this article very much. Listening prayer is something I've done for many years, since my teens and I think it is a wonderful way to come before the Lord. Too many times we just sit before God and blab. Listening Prayer is so important to me that I named my latest CD release Listening Prayer.
