Cleaning = yuckers!

NP : Starfield

I'm on holidays. Yep, its the middle of winter and I'm on holidays. Personally, I think this is the worst time of the year to get time off from work. Its cold, snowy, and if you don't have the bucks to go somewhere warm, or if you aren't really into winter sports, then you are out of luck.

So I've spent most of my day today cleaning. I absolutely HATE cleaning! Any type of cleaning. Today I've sorted through a closet(I have one more to go!), swept, mopped and vaccumed my entire apartment, dusted, did the dishes(more than once) and did 4 loads of laundry. Goodness that's a lot for one day.
I also took some time to read some scripture, and since I'm having a cleaning spree, I thought I'd see what the Bible has to say about cleaniness/cleansing/being clean. I came across many passages that were great, but the one that I liked the best came from 2 Peter 1:5-9.

"5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9
But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins."

These are the qualities that will produce a well-rounded, fruitful Christian life. I like the way my Bible describes verse 9: nearsighted and blind 'Since one cannot be both at the same time, Peter may have in mind a possible alternative meaning for "nearsighted," namely, "to shut the eyes." Such a person is blind because he has closed his eyes to the truth.'
Have I had my eyes closed? Have I forgotten that I have been cleansed from my past sins? Or am I just taking advantage of the fact that Christ died for me? How about you?
Proverbs 20:9 says "Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"? NO ONE IS WITHOUT SIN! Cleanse me = "Un-sin me." I LOVE THAT!

While I was doing my supper dishes this evening, I was singing a song(even though I had a cd playing in the background) and it made me reflect on my cleanliness. I haven't paid much attention to this song, yet it is so powerful. Now when I think about the lyrics some more, it seems so applicable for today's teens and young adults. I hope that I see so many more young people hungry for God and pure cleansing.

Give Us Clean Hands By Charlie Hall
We bow our hearts, we bend our knees
O Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
O Lord we cast down our idols

CHORUS: Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another

O God let us be a generation that seeks
your face O God of Jacob
O God let us be a generation that seeks
your face O God of Jacob

Blessings.
